BLUSH | Em Cosmetics Magic Hour

The packaging is kind of thick, not my favorite but it is nice quality
One swipe | 3 swipes

To my surprise this blush is actually quite pigmented, more than 1 dab with the Sonia Kashuk blush brush can make me look too blushed. It does have a nice glow, but I also feel like it potentially rubs off other foundation/powder products I’m wearing

Price: $34 for 0.28 oz / 8 g. Pretty generous size. All in all, Em products can be a bit expensive but she does produce it without a standard manufacturer, it seems? Idk if I would try other colors now that I got the “classics” unless she came out with bullet lipsticks that are pretty.

BLUSH | ColourPop Sailor Moon

From the Moon – hot-ish pink | Cat’s Eye – peach pink with gold glitter

I thought Cat’s Eye would be similar to Orgasm but it’s actually more pigmented and less pink. I’m glad my blushes aren’t exactly the same (lol) even tho on your face it might not have a HUGE difference

These blushes were sold out at the first and second restock. So when they restocked like a 4th time (I lost count) I figured why not, I think they’re cute. I think quality wise, the blushes are nicer than the eyeshadow palette and lip products (see my post here), esp if you’re into blush. I used to not care about blush and bronzer, but I realized it makes a huge difference on healthy your complexion looks, if you wear foundation. I personally would wear Cat’s Eye a lot more often bc I’m into peachy colors

Price: $12 for 0.21 oz / 6 g (generous size for blush tbh)

Are you a Sailor Moon fan? It’s probably my favorite cartoon growing up. Detective Conan comes close but they have over 1000 episodes? And the crime solving episodes got a little repetitive for me

BENEFIT | Cookie and Dandelion blush and highlight

For some reason, the brush in Cookie is softer than Dandelion. I am tossing the Dandelion brush out to avoid confusing myself whenever I forget it’s a rough feeling brush
Cookie is a nice pink champagne highlight | Dandelion is a very light pink blush. Not super pigmented, but provides a natural flush

I have the Hoola light bronzer and 2 eyebrow products from Benefit, the brand doesn’t especially appeal to me since the packaging is a bit juvenile. I think their eyebrow product is probably their star item, since the Benefit brow bar goes way back. I’ve tried the Roller mascara (review here) a while back, but my straight lashes require a waterproof formula.

I’ve seen Cookie and Dandelion on and off on YouTube, they seem like good staples so I jumped on it when I saw a 50% off sale at Ulta. For $15 per, it’s not a bad deal. The highlight is fragrance free and seems to be a lot more pigmented and creamy (it’s dimethicone based). The blush quality is a little mediocre (talc based), it has a mild fragrance that I don’t mind. All in all, worth trying 😊

Price: $30 for 0.25 oz / 7 g

KBEAUTY | 3CE Haul

3CE had a sale on their website 1-2 weeks ago and I grabbed a few items. I haven’t purchased from 3CE since ~4 years ago (blogpost here). I don’t especially love their skincare products, as their SPF is a bit thick (I just realized I never reviewed this, anyway it was too heavy/dewy for my preferences) and the SPF spray has a terrible nozzle. I got a lipstick from them at the airport at one point (review here) which is nice. None of their products really wow’ed me. When I went to Seoul in 2017, I visited the 3CE store and saw the pricing in Korea is not THAT much better than shopping on their website in USD, and they ship to the US for $10, which is not bad at all. For Japanese/Korean brands, I tend to go to eBay to see if they have any deals, and for 3CE eBay is not actually cheaper, so it is better to shop on their official website.

The brand as a whole is very marketable to the younger generation, as you can see with their pink nude packaging below. However, the quality is debatable

Have you guys noticed I don’t really swatch powder products? I feel like it looks different on your face than on your arm/hand

Stylenanda 3CE face blush in #Rose Beige – $17 – got this just to try out their formula, I have been into blush lately

Stylenanda 3CE multi eye color palette #overtake – $38 – as you can tell this is not the cheapest. Dior’s 9 grid is $49 and Dior to me is a higher valued brand. Without the 20% off I wouldn’t have purchased. The colors look a bit darker than I expected, but I know Korean formulas are not that pigmented

#overtake is a popular eyeshadow palette among the Taiwanese Youtubers I watch lately. The color selection is very “korean”. If you’re not familiar with Korean makeup (by this, I don’t mean the kpop idols), they usually go lighter on the eyes with a more statement lip that’s blended out. For that reason, Korean brand eyeshadows aren’t as pigmented as American/western brands, which is good for beginners who don’t know how to blend things out. I actually don’t own any of 9 grid eyeshadows (I know Dior has one) bc they don’t especially intrigue me. But I am always down to try some eyeshadow if they prove to be popular

Kinda cool they have expiration dates, so basically these will last me around 3 years (I don’t always follow those tbh, esp for powder products)

Makeup bags! I have a few clear and soft type makeup bags, but I thought these mesh ones are better for travel bc if any liquids spill, it can dry or be washed, as opposed to the ones I currently own which can only be wiped.

The bigger makeup bag is a bit larger (which is what I wanted). I currently use the Sonia Kashuk makeup bag (link here) for travel, but again I wanted a mesh bag to be able to see everything.

Have you heard of 3CE? Would you get anything from them?

To me, they are really good at marketing, but the quality of the products vary. I would be willing to try some makeup from them the next time I see something that catch my eye. Yesstyle also sells their products for a slight discount, but not as good as the 20% off 😛

JILL STUART | Blush and Lipstick

Jill Stuart is a brand from the American designer. As you can tell, the packaging is very girly and “princess” like which is popular in Japan. I purchased mine on the US website when they had their 20% sale

Tiny mirror – could be useful if you reapply lipstick

The lipstick feels light in the hand and doesn’t feel super luxurious, it does look cute here though

For me personally, I don’t find their products to be amazing or have a really great shade selection. It’s good for people who don’t wear a lot of makeup and love the packaging (aka me). Personally I find their blush packaging to be more appealing than the lipstick.

Got this powder in Hong Kong which is actually pretty good – not sure why they don’t include the base products on the US website, maybe not enough shades?
