Cle de Peau correcting cream veil SPF 25 PA+++

Cle de Peau doesn’t seem super big in western media, but on Little Red Book (xiaohongshu) in China it is quite popular, a lot of people regard it as the best brightening SPF cream. One of my favorite Youtubers who is from Taiwan says Cle de Peau makes your skin look good no matter what condition it is in, compared to other brands where if your skin is bad you can see how dry/patchy it is. For this reason I purchased the Cle de Peau liquid foundation, concealer and powder. I like all the products but for the price I am not in love with them. Also contrary to the name, Cle de Peau is owned by Shiseido so it’s actually a luxury Japanese brand, instead of French or whatever people may perceive it as.

For me personally, even at $56 that is quite pricy for a sunscreen, I use this cream veil more as a tinted moisturizer/brightening cream for the middle of my face (e.g. nose, poreous areas on the face) and I quite like it for the purpose. My complexion is usually fair/light neutral and I notice this cream brightens my skin and makes it look more flawless naturally. It is not silicone like as some primers can be. If your skin is relatively problematic, this can probably be your “foundation” that evens out your skintone a bit.

US price: $85 for 1.3 oz / 40g | Yami price: $56 (price fluctuates depending on sale) – I discovered a new site named Yami that has a lot of Asian beauty products. For some of the expensive ones (like SK II) I am not 100% sure about the quality but I like a lot of the products they have to offer

Based on this ingredients list I would advise using a real sunscreen as this may not have ample UVA protection.

TINTED MOISTURIZER | Shiseido Waso Color Smart SPF 30

One thing to PLEASE NOTE: tinted SPF are usually not as effective as regular sunblock. 1) because people don’t apply liberally to avoid looking cakey and 2) the UV filters are often not as strong to make the formula easier to blend. Case and point: based on just Octinoxate and Titanium Dioxide there is minimal UVA coverage. I’d definitely use an SPF underneath as long as it’s not too heavy or oily feeling.

Kind of a long ingredients list – per ush Shiseido products are fragranced. This has a pleasant floral fragrance

As you can see, when you first start blending it looks a bit orange. The after looks ok on camera but I see an orange tint in real life o_O

The texture is pretty lightweight, I enjoy it

Straight out of the tube

I found this product thru Susan Yara from Mixed Makeup on Youtube. Her skin tone is a bit darker so I think the color suits her better. This tinted moisturizer definitely helps a bit with pores and redness. I am not sure I want to keep it due to the orange tint… but I like the color correcting effect. Might be nice for light makeup days (tbh before shelter in place, I went thru a long period of not wearing any make up to work due to laziness).

Price: $38 for 1.9 oz / 50 ml – I noticed Shiseido always write 1.9 or 2 oz even though 50ml should be 1.7 oz. I got it on sale at Sephora for $29 (still kinda pricy if you think about it). Get it on Amazon

This is the first Waso product I tried from Shiseido. From their regular line, I used to have the blue shaky waterproof SPF (photo below) and recall it being a bit oily for face, but it seems they reformulate their SPF every now and then. The Urban SPF 42 (white shaky bottle, photo below) is very popular at Sephora but it always seemed too expensive to me for a small bottle (1 oz). After having a bad experience with the tinted sports SPF (review here), I hesitate with tinted SPF now. But it seems like brands under the Shiseido umbrella available in Japan have a more sophisticated SPF formula, like the Elixir line (review here and here) which is also expensive.

Natural Beauty? ILIA Review

Without primer

If it seems like I applied a lot, I did – with tinted “sunblock” products you have to apply liberally to actually get the sun protection effect. Luckily the color on this matches well so it didn’t look like a mask on my skin.

With primer

I don’t see a big difference in application with the primer, but it has a nice texture

Personally I thought the SPF tint was a bit heavy on my skin, also gave a dewy look that didn’t dry down – I imagine it’s good for dry skin. The coverage is light to medium so not bad. I received this in a Influenster VoxBox. The quality of the packaging is nice and I enjoy droppers since it’s easier to control than a pump. The feeling their products seems like it’s better suited for dry skin. Please comment below if you’ve tried Ilia products! I’d love to learn more about them

The pricing is as follows

$46 for 1 oz Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40

$52 for 1 oz True Skin Radiant priming serum

Although now a days I prefer a brown liner (been using the LoveLiner Hello Kitty brown one lately), this is a nice one to try if you are into felt tip liquid liners. I’ve always preferred liquid liner bc I have oily eyelids and pencil/gel smudges on me without fail.

$28 for 0.01 fl oz / 0.55 ml – Clean Line Liquid Liner

I’ve been on Influenster for a while but I don’t usually get their higher end packages. Upon receiving this I always wonder how lucrative the business is if they can afford to send it out for “free”. I suppose it’s part of their marketing expense
