^ seems like this is a chemical sunscreen rather than physicial

I am always on the look out for a SPF moisturizer that really can do it all (moisturize and sun protection) bc most of them are too oily, too dry, or not enough protection. I know some people are more nonchalant about sun protection, but even in the winter UVA and UVB rays are still out there!

Shiseido Elixir’s price point seems like a higher end SPF, since it’s $35-40 for a 1 oz / 30 ml. The whitening version does seem more moist than the gold tube, but the texture is still light and absorb quickly. If you see the ingredients list, there is alcohol in there – it seems like Asian brands are still comfortable using alcohol den. in their products if other ingredients help with moisture? I purchased the SPF 50 version previously (review here) but it was not really moisturizing and seems to not work well with most liquid foundations – but whenever I wore it my friends would compliment my skin bc it gave a nice glow. They both smell pleasant and Shiseido products in my experience are always fragranced.

If you tend to get freckles, I would steer clear of this line – I noticed I still get freckles on my cheekbones even though I use this as SPF everyday.

I got mine from Yesstyle (link here). It is kind of expensive so I’d wait till Yesstyle has a sale, which they seem to do randomly. Random tip about Yesstyle, for Asian brands that seem to be very expensive, search on ebay first to see the price difference – sometimes I see a $10 difference if not more.

Main difference between gold and pink

Gold: moisturizing, nourishing SPF, lightweight and brightening

Pink: moisturizing, nourishing SPF, whitening/brightening

TINTED SPF | Shiseido Sports BB SPF 50+

If you’re interested in sunblock ingredients, you can read up more about titanium dioxide here. I was a little worried that this doesn’t have zinc oxide, but it seems like TD provides enough UVA protection.

I personally am not a fan of this sunblock because 1) it feels heavy; 2) the tint is very pink toned; and 3) it makes my skin kind of oily. I believe they have 3 options and they don’t really match if you’re on more extreme sides of the skin tone spectrum. The texture of the sunblock also doesn’t make my pores look better. This product carries the same sunblock scent that all Shiseido SPFs carry, which is actually quite pleasant.

Price: $38 for 1 oz / 30 ml. Get it on Amazon

I would pass on this sunblock as I don’t see how a “sports sunblock” can be so heavy feeling the skin. I used it once a never really touched it again. Since it is tinted I can’t even really use it for my body or hands without getting it over my clothes.

If I didn’t impulse buy this at the Taipei airport I don’t think I would’ve considered it while shopping at Sephora.

Sephora Spring 2019 Haul

Every year I’m like I will buy less stuff

This is probably the “least” I’ve bought from the sales, and products I will actually use!

MUFE Matte Velvet Skin powder ($38 retail) – I heard about this from a Taiwanese blogger who said this is her holy grail powder foundation. I realized powder foundations are really great if used with the right sponge, so I’m excited!

Fenty mini highlight and lip gloss ($23 retail) – heard about it from the same blogger. I literally looked at this, put it back. A week later, saw it again and decided I want it. I orig wanted to try her lip gloss but the mini size is always better for hoarders who never use their makeup up (me)

Shiseido SPF 38 ($38 retail) – I have the SPF 38 cream (in a tube) which is no longer sold at Sephora. This one has really great reviews and I generally trust Japanese skincare – also I have a lot of SPF 50 sunblocks, and I hear you’re not supposed to use such a high # on a daily basis

NARS Orgasm Jumbo ($40 retail) – I have a mini size of this, but the packaging was too beautiful to pass up. It’s also sold out so… I guess it was a good buy

Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow ($68 retail) – this brand is seems overpriced, but I’ve actually been using bronzers lately and I’ve heard from multiple reviews/Youtubers that this one is very pretty.

What did you guys get?

My friends and I order on the same account so we get the ROUGE discount 😀 otherwise idk if the benefits are really worth it to spend $1k a year

Shiseido Day Care Elixir SPF50 PA++++

Bought this after seeing two Taiwanese beauty bloggers mention it

Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide (10.78%), Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (6.9944%), Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine (2%), Ethylhexyl Triazone (1%)
Inactive Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Cyclopentasiloxane, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Hydrated Silica, Tranexamic Acid, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PPG-17, Isostearic Acid, Hdi/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethylacrylamide/Sodium Acryloyldimethyltaurate Crosspolymer, Sorbitan Sesquiisostearate, PEG-100 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Fragrance (Parfum), Succinoglycan, PEG/PPG-17/4 Dimethyl Ether, Phytosteryl Macadamiate, Citric Acid, BHT, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Metaphosphate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Stearoxy Ether, Inositol, Iron Oxides (Ci 77492), Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Silica, Phytosteryl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate, Sodium Citrate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil (Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil), Lysine Hcl, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Potentilla Erecta Root Extract, Saccharomyces Ferment Lysate Filtrate, Arginine, Nasturtium Officinale Leaf/Stem Extract, Polyquaternium-51, Tocopherol, Soluble Collagen, Rosa Roxburghii Fruit Extract

It is a bit pricy but the texture seems nice and makes my skin look dewy (several ppl complimented me on my skin with no makeup when I wore this). After I turned 26, my skin has become a lot less oily, so I sometimes have to layer a moisturizer under this product. It is nicely scented like most Shiseido products, but I still got freckles on my cheekbones – possibly due to lack of reapplication (I feel like I apply liberally in the morning, a 1 oz fluid sunscreen will go pretty fast if you apply liberally)

MASCARA | Shiseido Perfect Mascara Full Definition

Idk if you can tell but this mascaras have little fibers in there, which can help elongate your lashes

As you can tell, 2 coats made a way bigger difference. If you’re into the natural look this could give you a defined look (but, if you have to remove mascara at the end of the day, I feel like it should make a noticeable difference)

This mascara doesn’t claim to be waterproof, so for a non waterproof mascara this kept an ok curl, unlike most non waterproof mascaras that just leave my eyelashes straight

Would I repurchase?

Probably not, a lot of drugstore mascaras performs similarly if not better

Would I recommend it?

Yes, if you don’t like waterproof mascaras. But it isn’t that cheap so maybe wait for the Sephora sales
